For those who know, I am apart of a project based learning class. And for those who do not know, Hello I am Mafi :). I am a year 10 student apart of a project based learning class. We find issues commonly found in our community, and try create projects that help to improve our area. This year my team chose a project idea based off a "Helping a local doctor". Our main objective was to help by reusing his space to plant whatever and do whatever. Sooner or later our main project changed to a "Community Garden".

So while I am on the topic of my project, I thought it was right of me to introduce my team members. My team consisted of my fellow classmates Liena, Eden, Jaylim and Poiva. With the five of us all together, we were Team Herb, naming ourselves after our previous project idea, a community garden. ↳ ❝ ➌ 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬💡¡! ❞

The struggles we had were firstly planing and creating our first prototype. While the other groups had a fair idea of their type of "space" they were working with, we unfortunately didn't until an amount of time passed. This was a struggle because normally a prototype is your foundation to planning and ideating. Another one of our struggles were actually figuring out what to do with the space after we finish our major idea. Yes our main plan was to plant, but what happens after was a huge knock back for us. We were lost in what we were going to do with the products or space. Will we be continuing to plant? Were we going to sell our fruits? Were we planning to completely build a garden on school site? Many questions and speculations started to rise after the first few weeks of planting. We still are undergoing about what we plan to do after, but we will eventually choose what will happen until then, I will keep you updated.

Our achievements however are much more significant. Some of achievements we made were planting beds. Now days it is not often you see kids or teens outside planting, they are normally inside. It was new for us to be planting, so learning how to lay the beds down was a huge achievement. Not only that we manage to get in touch of stakeholders(that weren't teachers lol). We made contact with local construction men for their left over soil, we made contact with Lucy, a local lady who also plants and Doctor Jannie who is a neighbour to the planting site. We have other achievements, but these are the ones that stood out to me.

a. What was your project? And what was your how might we question?

How Might TC students help a community group build and look after a community garden*

b. What was the design thinking process you took to answer your "How might we" question and How did you feel about it?

The design thinking process we took was these specific steps. Defining a challenge, ideating, creating a prototype to then test it out and then reflecting on our barriers and achievements. I felt very good about our "How might we" question. Not only is it different to my previous project challenge, its main purpose was to help locals.

c. Share about your experience from the Showcase night.

My experience from the showcase night was amazing. Many do not know it but another project team from my class, held the showcase as their project idea. With the amount of time they had to even create the showcase night was truly spectacular. I give many props to them, and yeah it was overall a fun and enjoyably night :)

d. Is there anything you could do differently?

Spend more time on the presentation. Although we had some issues and events that didn't go to plan, I feel that our presentation slides could have been better than how it was presented. Other than that, I think my team and I did well in everything we had to do.
