For anyone who is reading, New Zealand is currently in lockdown. Auckland specifically is in Alert level 3 whereas the rest of the nation is in Alert level 2. Today is day two out of three and I have a heap of work to complete. Today's blog post is about Social Studies and recapping on what actually happened originally.  That's all the context that is needed. I hope all are staying home and keeping well. Thank you
and take care :)

Today in Social Studies our online task was to review what really happened at Waitangi. We had to watch a short film and fill out a P.M.I chart that was below on the document. The P.M.I task was writing positive, negatives, and something interesting about a certain aspect that was given. An example of my work is in the image beside this text. After completing the first task, We had to list an important person from the film. Also, an example of my work completed is the second photo.

The main point of this blog post was to say my opinion on the film. I personally found the film very educational. It taught me everything I could have learned in three periods of Social Studies. Also, it's a short film, which makes it much more fun. I definitely recommend the video to students in my age range. It's educational, funny, and easy to understand.

Integers Game~ Maths

Today in maths we were learning about multiplying and dividing integers. One of our tasks was to try and play a math game. It was pretty fun and easy :)) The game link is there if you want to play.

How is everyone doing? I trust all who are reading are taking very good care of themself and family. Today's blog is about reviewing last year's science work, before that, however, I would like to go over a few things.

2020 as many of you all know was not the year that many of us expected. We went through lockdown, social distancing, and strict rules we all had to follow to ensure everyone's safety. I personally struggled with all my work and lacked in motivation and many of my learning areas. To be completely honest I forgot 90% of the lessons that were taught to me last year. I thought it was only right for me to go back and re-learn/re-gain the knowledge I basically left in 2020. This brings us to the main point of this blogpost.

As I previously stated, I reviewed the lessons I learned last year during the lockdown. I managed to cover work focused on Earth. The first part of the work based on Earth's inner crust and layers. I found a keyword in the text I was reading that I didn't understand well. After drawing my small diagram of Earth's crusts I came back to the word and discovered its definition. It's a very interesting word to say :) I also went over what the Oceanic crust is. I drew a small purple Earth with pink continents because why not? xD

The second part of the reviewing lesson was about energy transformation. The big question was, "How does light from the sun travel to Earth." I read the context that was given to me last year by my science teacher, and it again contained words I didn't understand well. With the same method, I already said in the first part, I listed the unclear words and decided to do some research on them. After many many tries, I finally managed to get the definition of the words. I eventually made a definition of the words in an easier way for me to understand. I looked through many sites which I will link if you guys would want to read through :)

Thank you to everyone who tuned in with me and my blog. I can't express my entire gratitude, so all I can really say is, thank you. I don't really have much to say, but I hope you all take care. If you have any questions please let me know, I'll be glad to answer. Also any feedback(positive and negative) will be much appreciated. Once again, Thank you :))

Waitangi Day │Social Studies 5.02.21

The 6th of February 1840 marks the signing of the treaty between the British Crown and Maori Cheifs. This very specific holiday is called The Treaty of Waitangi and Hone Heke(a Maori chief) was the first to sign. Many had different opinions on Waitangi Day.

In the interview, the younger generation was asked about their thoughts and their perspective on Waitangi Day. A lot of their answers were uncertain and many came to an agreement that they really didn’t know much. The older tier of the youth was also taking into consideration and thinking about the next 175 years ahead for the nation. I believe they were questioning how people in the future would be living without knowing the actual history behind the public holiday we know today.

Information source one.

In my opinion, I strongly believe that it is important to celebrate Waitangi Day. Waitangi day holds an important part of New Zealand’s origin, it is only right to celebrate. Many people take the public holiday as just another day off however, people truly understand the meaning of Waitangi Day which is why I believe it should be important to celebrate.

As you can tell from my previous statements I also believe it is important to learn about the Treaty.

Goal Setting!

Today in maths we were learning about the acronym SMART Goals :)

S- Specific:

What is my goal? My goal is to spend more time after school on my unfinished work I did not manage to complete during school. This would also mean I would sacrifice 30 mins and have an improved work routine.

M- Measurable:

How will I measure my progress? The way I will measure my progress is by checking back at my first attempts of trying to finish my work. I will keep track of how much work I managed to complete at home if I did make progress.

A- Attainable

Do I have the skills and the resources for it? It doesn't actually take much to try and complete homework in under 30 mins. It only takes a calm and focused mindset in my opinion.

R- Realistic

Why is this goal important? This goal is important, why? because every day I am given work by teachers to complete. If I don't complete my work during class it only makes sense to complete it after school. This is why I believe my goal is important.

T- Time

When will I achieve the goal I set? I will achieve this goal when I finally see progress in my work being complete after school. If I perhaps see progress in my after school work, I will continue to be dedicated and keep this work routine up.
