SLJ( Week 1 Day 3 Activity 3) 2018-2019

What to do: Once you have watched the video, go to your blog and, using full sentences, tell us:

1) The name of the animal the WWF is working to save.

2) What the WWF is doing to help the animal.

3) What, If any, success they have had protecting the animal

The name of the animal they are trying to save are the saimaa ringed seal because they are nearly extinct in this entire world there are only about 360 left. By helping the animal they build snow banks for the seals to give birth in. If there were no snow banks then they would be given birth on the open ice giving them human disturbance, no protection from predators or the cold. They are succeeding on making snow banks, but they have to have a long term plan based on climate change, because with climate change it will melt the ice so there will be no protection for the animals.

TO EVERYBODY READING THIS: No matter where we are near or far help out. Let's work together to make our earth better, remember we can CHANGE we CHANGE we can CHANGE

  1. Hey Mafi,
Well done on your summary of this task. It is a real shame that although they are making snow banks, there is a bigger problem approaching...Climate change. What is one thing that you would encourage NZers to do, that will help with climate change?
Keep up the great work Mafi! :)

  2. Kia Ora Mafi,

It really is heart breaking to see the reality of what is happening to our wildlife, isn't it? I am so pleased to see that you are encouraging others to do their part in preventing the damages of climate change.

    Keep up the awesome blogging!

    Talk soon,

    Sophie :)
